Small Town Girl Talk: Friendship in Spite of Women’s Hair Loss
The majority of us couldn’t believe the indestructible Amelia Sinclair, our family friend, could own and wear lace front wigs. Her iconic hair and fashion was synonymous with her personality. Get this. Our favorite gal remains the center of attention because of her trademark toss ‘n turn. Only a handful of souls even care that she dons well-crafted African American wigs. They work well.
Back in the day as mere children in our home town of Scottsdale, we once took turns winning Miss “SCH” four years running. Of course, until her women’s hair loss took its toll and her hair thinned spottily. I hinted about some invisible lace wigs. Even so balding was no big deal to her. Undeterred by her hair loss, she fearlessly fully owned her innate beauty.
Appearing at her fiance’s golf competition, we ate nuts till a guy on other team accidentally kicked the orb (or whatever you call it) at the crowd. Quick on her feet, she dove for the ball when her bandana jumped from her head, unveiling her shiny head. No big deal, she walked over and delivered it to the game official. What’d I tell ya about her spunk?
Of course, who can be invincible at all times? Months later she invited me over for a “Gilmore Girls” binge, the day she sat me down and revealed that she would rather do without hair out of anger. She loved her old hair so much she can’t even spend money on human hair wigs, despite the fact that she wanted her hair back. She then she stopped talking and begged that I can’t mention it again. I didn’t know what to say.
We got so worried about her. Later on, I called about getting her a new wig. Eventually the two of us ended up with the obvious conclusion: we’ll think of wigs as fashion, and we love fashion. Wigs for the both of us, on me!
She and I were stunned by how natural they looked. I couldn’t believe that human hair wigs are so natural for so many women. These lace front wigs complimented her natural beauty. I put together a comprehensively new set of outfits to go with our wigs. Out of solidarity, and that will surely endure. Last Christmas she thanked me for reuniting, and said it rekindles new vibrance that she’d forgotten. It’s touching to have helped little miss attitude float about as light as a feather. I love her so much!
